Xcode 2.2 add library from /usr/local

I am having a problem adding libraries to a project using Xcode 2.2 from locations like /usr/local. Using the add to project window, I can get to the root directory but /usr folder does not show up. I recall in previous Xcode there was a goto folder entry where you could add /usr and then browse from there. I have not found a way around this limitation with Xcode 2.2.

I'm just now starting to use Xcode for Cocoa-Java development (I usually use NetBeans, sometimes Eclipse), so I'm just learning the ropes. Does "Add files to project..." mean add them to the classpath? If so, does it actually copy the files into Xcode, or just references? If not, how do I do that with Xcode?

Thanks,
DBJ
