Good question! Altho I've not tried this, I don't see why not if you have a USB 2.0 cable running from your Mac to your Sony Handycam, and the Handycam is powered ON (and in "live" mode, or related mode). You can test the connection out without going online by just opening Photo Booth on your Mac (or iChat, go to Preference > Audio/Video and see if you get a live image in the preview screen).

If y can't record live with iMove then the camera is not supported for Skype/Char either.

Do one of the following:

  • If your computer has a built-in iSight camera, click the Import button to open the Import window.User uploaded file
  • If your computer doesn’t come with a built-in iSight camera, connect a tape-based camera or camcorder, set it to VTR mode (this mode may have a different name on your device), and then choose the camera you want to use from the Import From pop-up menu.
