How setup AES or TKIP on WPA-2 Personal Encryption mode?

I bought a Tenda wireless Router W268R.

Their support told me that it was necessary set WPA2-Personal Encryption Mode to AES (not TKIP) to permit computers an router shakehands in 150Mbps!

They told that TKIP does not support this speed. Router is set this way:

- WLAN Mode - mixed 11 b/g/n

- WLAN Operation Mode - Mixed Mode (not Green Field)

- WLAN Canal Bandwidth - 20/40

- WLAN Reverse Direction Grant - set

- WLAN Agregation MSDU (A-MSDU) - not set

- WLAN Security mode - WPA2 - PERSONAL

- WPA Algorithm - AES (not TKIP&AES, not TKIP).

Anyway, I made the changes but my Macbook Pro i7, w/ Mac OS X Snow Leopard, OS and softwares just updated, is not getting this speed (at most, half of it). On the page of Tenda Router appears 20M, instead of 40M.

What should I do to get the best of my Mac?

Thanks all help, in advance.

Sorry, Sig, but it can't be, cause there are others computers that does not have "n" protocol.

I changed WLAN Security Setup to "TKIP&AES", to admit all computers on WLAN (pure n or b/g).

An ACER netbook with WinXP SP3 is shanking hands with wireless router 40M speed (up to 150 Mbps).

It's horrible my Macbook doesn't get this speed.

Thanks for more support.

I'm keeping contact with Tenda Company too.

Best Regards

802.11n ProblemTHIS DISCUSSION IS ARCHIVED

1. There is a archived discussion w/ the title above that shows same problem I have. Strangely, no solution was given at all!!!! Is this forum purpose solve user's problems? Strange! Absurde!

2. My MBP is still in 54Mbps speed and, like I said, I can't change the router to N-mode only, cause exists others computers without N protocol on my wireless LAN.

3. The router (Tenda W268R) is working with channels 8 (main - 2447 MHz) and 4 (extention - 2427 MHz). These channels are working very well w/ an Acer Netbook => 150Mbps speed! (max of my router), even w/ a weak signal (of course the througput decreases, but handshaking are happenning in this speed).

4. Never heard/read about 5 GHz band on routers or MBP!? How can I see it in my MBP?

5. Please, I need HELP. It's impossible an up-to-date- computer like MBP work in a lower profile than an Aspire One Acer netbook w/ Athom processor!

Thanks, in advance.

You can't run at full speed when you have low speed computers sharing the same channel.

All MBPs support 5.8 GHz. When the original MBP came out "n" didn't exist. However "a" has existed for a long time and is exclusively on 5.8 GHz.

My solution to your problem is to run my router in "n" only mode and to use a Wireless Access Point (WAP) on a different channel to provide "b" and "g" connectivity for the low speed devices.

Your router supports 11 channels in the US and Canada so it does not support 5.8 GHz.

The Linksys E2000 supports 2.4 GHz OR 5.8 GHZ. (i.e. one or the other)

The Linksys E3000 supports 2.4 GHz AND 5.8 GHz. (i.e. both at the same time)
