When making a normal phone call while a Bluetooth headset is connected, you can select between the iPhone's internal speaker and mic or the headset. When using 3rd party apps, I guess it's up to the app, i.e. Skype, to explicitly check for Bluetooth devices and use them. Skype for iPhone doesn't do this, yet - so unfortunately, you'll have to use the wired headset for now.

Today Skype officially satated that Bluetooth headsets are supported. I just updated and it still doesn't work.

So, if you hear Skype ringing (in your ear - via Bluetooth) and you answer the call, the audio goes to the iPad built in mic and speaker.

It's in the iOS - No wireless solutions for VoIP allowed!!

They also killed functionality for the USB 'camera connection kit' - in case we get any wild ideas about getting a wireless USB headset (which would have worked).

if it were not supported, I imagine that I would not be able to hear music, adjust volume, change tracks, etc. (which all works fine).

I even hear Skype sounds; when Skype loads, Skype notifications, and calls coming in. When I answer the call, it forces the audio an mic to the built in iPad speaker and mic. I really don't want to talk on a speaker phone all the time - I don't think anyone does.
