Facetime not working on iPad 2 and Mac Version

Try this thread.. Likely related to dns not resolving apple FaceTime services.

It's very easy to set on ipad2 at:

Settings/wifi/ssidname/dns

I ran into this issue. Someone calls me and my Mac rings and my iPad2 doesn't.

I did a hard reboot on the iPad 2 and voila!, it worked. Personally don't want to have to go into the DNS settings every time I want to FACETime.

When you set up contacts in your FaceTime, be sure to use their telephone number if they are on iPhones, and E-Mail address when on a Mac or an iPad.

hi, I was having trouble with the new iMessage app on my iPad2 so i changed my DNS (settings --wifi--blue arrow on your selected network--chose DNS-- type in 8.8.8.8) and it works great! ** IMPORTANT! make a note of your ORIGINAL DNS before you change it, incase you have to revert back** My FaceTime wasnt working either, so i did the same thing to my DNS on my WiFi on my Mac, logged in straight away.

I was also baffled for a long time. Until I went into the iPad2 settings... Looked under Facetime and saw that the email I registered on my iPad (email 1) was different from the one that my friend was using (email 2). So I simply added email 2 into my iPad and my friend could call me from her Mac no problem.

Just bought an iPad 2 for my wife and had the same problem with facetime and iMessage where my wifi was connected at home but it kept saying "could not connect to facetime, check network connection and try again". Joebenitez's solution worked great. Walked over to McDonalds, connected to their wifi and facetime and iMessage worked immediatly. Came back home and it worked like a charm. Thanks a lot for the solution!

Just download Skype.....it actually works. To pay as much as we did for an iPhone and iPad and for them to not be able to communicate via FaceTime, is absolutely ridiculous. Apple overcharges, one again, and doesn't deliver. Can anyone say Microsoft?

I have no idea if I'm writing on the right page but I need help, I can't get FaceTime on my iPad! When ever someone tries to FaceTime me on my iPad they FaceTime my iphone4s. My sister has the iPhone 4 and an iPad and doesn't have this problem! I try to FaceTime people from my iPad and it says it's connecting and it rings my end but there not receiving any calls from their end!, Can anyone help me I'm new to all this but I have tried all the obvious things and nothings working :( I just wanna be able to FaceTime from my iPad and it's doin my head in!!!!! Please help me someone :)

I re booted, problem SLOVED!

I have been working on setting up all family members that got ipads this christmas. What I found with those that had phones AND iPads was that we had to dilleneate what device would accept calls in FaceTime. I ensured that the phones were set up to receive at their phone number and the iPad was set up to receive at the AppleID Email (iCloud I guess now) and the conflicts stopped.

Settings > FaceTime > "You can be reached for video calls at..."

facetime imac to iphone4s works for me

but iphone4s to imac not working (is busy at this time) then hangs up

dns 8.8.8.8 trick didnt work either

also wifes iphone4s facetime not working whatsoever

and all her contacts keep dissapearing

strange considering apple products "just work"
