how to remove footer ?

Go to the Documents Tab of the Inspector and uncheck Footer.

Usually you can just click in the footer area and delete whatever is there. If you want to remove usage of headers or footers all together, in Pages:

1. Open the Inspector window (menubar/view/show inspector)
2. In the Inspector window, open the Document Inspector section.
3. In the Document Margins subsection, uncheck headers, footers or both.

Use the document inspector to set headers/footers. You can set them to zero & disable them by unchecking the box.

I've also found out that to totally remove the footer or header and keep them from using space on the page, you should reduce the footer or header size to 0 first, then uncheck Footer.

Doug Evans, they don'y use space as they by default are placed on the margins of the document. Unchecking does suffice.

Very interesting. Just tested and learned that the Footer can displace text in the Main Text Layer if you don't allow for the Footer when setting Document Margins.

As I explained here several times, the value defined thru the Inspector isn't the footer/header size. It's its offset from the bottom/top of the printing area.
