Can't connect FaceTime with iPad 2.

After entering my Apple ID I get a message saying...

FaceTime Activation

Could not sign in. Please check your

network connection and try again.

My network seems to be working fine and am able to access the internet as well as my Apple ID account through the internet.

Please help...

I have the exact same issue with my (64GB, WiFi only) iPad 2;

FaceTime Activation fails every time with a "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again" error; no proposed fix works.

My Apple ID, Apple ID password, and network settings are 100% correct.

Please advise.

The 8.8.8.8 didn't work for me. Neither did the date and time auto=on. I went through the Facetime trouble shooting guide and nothing has worked. It simply indicates a network problem, yet my network is fine and all other aspects operate fine.

This is an iPad2 and Facetime was originally working - I had made a number of calls and it was all good. Then suddenly the other day I went to make a call and realised it wasn't signed in, and when I tried to sign in it refused and complained about a network problem.

I also tried 8.8.4.4

I also rebooted my iPad

I also tried waiting for a couple of hours

I also tried restarting my router

I tried logging in Facetime from the Configuration entry and from the App login

I also tried looking for updates, but there are none

Skype still works (thank God for Microsoft)

Has Apple shutdown Facetime and not told anybody????

As above - rebooted, multiple times

Also tried reseting the network settings

Also tried 'Forget this network' and set it up again

Also tried adjusting the screen brightness (this was another tip for solving this problem, clearly I'm getting desparate)

I also found Facetime IS working on my MBP, but still not on the iPad - both are wireless so I'm hoping it's not the wireless router.

Any other suggestions...
