Safari keeps crashing on ipad - how to resolve?

I have a 1st gen iPad with all OS software and app software updated to the latest versions and Safari will not open - every time I start the app, it crashes immediately. I've tried restoring the ipad to factory settings and then restoring from backup with no luck. Also, any application that uses Safari (like youtube, maps, etc) crashes as well.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a resolution?

iPad, iOS 4.3.2

See if either of these things help.

Tap Settings, then tap Safari on the left side. Then on the right side - tap clear history, clear cookies, clear cache. Clear all three. Reboot your iPad. Hold down on the sleep button at the top until the red slider appears and slide to power off. Then hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and the iPad will restart. Launch Safari and see if helped.

If that doesn't help, try this. Tap Settings, then tap General on the left side, then scroll down on the right side and tap Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings at the top. Reboot your iPad as described above. Launch Safari and log on to the Internet. You may have to enter your network password again when you reset Network Settings.

Thank you acahaya.

The 'resetting all' worked for me too.

In case you don't know how to do it:

On your iPad: (Mine's an iPad 2)

1) Go into settings

2) Then into 'General' on the left handside of the screen

3) On the right handside of the screen, swipe up until you get to the bottom of the colum, there you will see 'Reset' with an arrow

4) Tap on 'Reset'

5) Tap on 'Reset All Settings'

Your iPad should restart showing you the Apple logo at first then come back on normally.

Hope this helps!

This is what worked for me for my iPad 2:

1. Connect to itunes using pc/mac

2. Restore iOS to an earlier version (if you have backed up any previous versions) by selecting the version from the drop down in iTunes and let the process complete

3. Once complete, Restore ios using the restore button in iTunes (just press the restore button on the main screen of iTunes)

One item that also seemed to help for me was reducing down the number of Show Recent Messages to 50 under Mail and Sync events 2 weeks back under Calendars. My wife and I have 4 email accounts and I sync to my work exchange server for calendar. As time went on, the syncing of Mail and Calendar with higher options would routinely crash everything.
