We don't have much control when the government is in bed with Apple. Yes, politics makes strange bedfellows. Does anyone care that almost every student in the entire county is now forced to use an Apple product? No choice, taxpayers fork out the money. Any drone who thinks he has to defend the billion dollar company against one customer wanting to use the Apps he paid for is pathetic...

So now Apple and the US Government are in collusion to addict the population to Apple devices. And, I'm not a "drone" and I have never been a fan of Apple. To tell you the truth, Apple devices have, in my opinion, all ways been over hyped, over priced, not easily expanded by end users, are are more of a status symbol to than any thing else.

And, if you had kept at least one back up, your device would still be useful, so who's fault is that?

" Apple is wrong and needs to change their update system so it will not allow an updated app to be installed on a device that cannot run that version. It makes no sense to allow this."

This is the basic premise here, Apple bores. It's what's known as bad UX.

This **** thread has been rolling along now for years(?!). I am tired of new bores filling my mailbox with crap. How do I sign off from this thread? I've tried several times. Maybe I missed something I the terms and conditions of this site...

OK, I get it, every one is wrong and you are always right. Typical for this generation...

I love this discussion I must say...

cliftonfromrichmond you are right. we all must have a backup. Idk who said that avoid downloading the new version or at least ask if we want to download the newest version which wouldnt work for older versions, he is right too.

Idk who said send feedback, I have done that... many times. It is like asking oil companies to low the oil price or Ask Monsanto to stop using OMGs... that wont happen coz they will lose money. As long as people consume the product "as it is" they wont actually change this small little tiny minuscule issue.

The problem is that I trusted apple like I trust PC and i did not feel the need to have backups coz i though..." well the old versions should be out there right?? this is the internet!!" It was my mistake to asumme. And at the same time NASTY from Apple for doing this... but well who cares ?. Apple loveres ( i have had discussions of their economic model with friends ) will defend the system calling me cheap and will continue to glorify them and are eager to watch the new Jobs movie.

Now my mission when people tells me "I am going to buy the new apple touch, iphone etc etc" is to explain them the apple business model and to save periodic backups of their stuff just in case... Coz being honest, Apple Hardware is really good. I have no complains about the HARDWARE. My apple touch is like new, it works like charm after all these years of hard use.

Per the warranty and terms/conditions (itunes store included), there are specific sections that provide information on YOUR RESPONSIBLIITES, especially as a user of ANY electronic device it is well known each and every company will have a specific section of the sort.

Read over them both again, there is even a point made by some companies in those same terms/conditions and warranty that if you are unable or unwilling to follow such responsibilities to return the device immediately for a full refund within a certain window of the purchase date.

If you did not read over those terms/conditions and straight out just agreed...you have only left yourself open and ignorant. I, however do understand the rants...it is sad.

Perfect example, check into this: (I know its old, but proves a little bit of a point) - http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2010/04/15/online-shoppers-unknowingly-sold-souls/
