I don't get what the big deal is. I've never needed to use Flash to watch online videos before except in a few very rare cases (those videos were also on Youtube anyway). I'd rather sacrifice that one video I might watch in my life that is only on a site with a Flash-based player than have to deal with all of the Flash ads and other @#$% on webpages that slow me down.
Just chiming in with my two cents...I consider myself pretty computer and tech savvy, but it never occurred to me before buying my iPad to even ask whether or not it supported Flash. After all, I had not used the device yet to realize how much it would affect me. I will say this, when I was under my staircase during two tornado outbreaks this past summer that ripped through Missouri, and the power was out, I was counting on my iPad to get updated news reports to decide when it was safe to come out and to find out the situation...ALL the major networks use Flash for their live streaming broadcasts. That's when it really upset me.
I am a user that would prefer Flash capability on my iPad. I know many of the other tablets are now marketing on that point, so I hope Apple considers this improvement to the iPad.
As Apple don't want flash and Adobe have never managed to get it to work on iOS devices (and they've announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of flash player), it is very unlikely to happen. Have you looked to see whether your local channels have their own apps?

As there is no Flash for iPad (Adobe do not make it) how would Apple make this improvement?
I'm not a developer, just a user. Can't suggest HOW they fix it, just wish they could, and voicing my opinion.
King_Penguin, there are apps for the local networks, but they do not stream live news. I did check that from under the stairs. During the worst storm I didn't even have my 3G service, the storm took that down, too, so nothing could've helped then. No power...no cellular...no news. Guess I should still keep a battery operated radio around, huh?!

But flash is not an Apple product, that's like asking Ford to fix Chrysler cars
...and in sticking with the same analogy, if a Ford guy wanted to fix my Chrysler car, he could do so by working with Chrysler to get what he needed to make it happen.
The fact that the other tablets out there (yes, I realize they are running different OS) are actually targeting this point in their marketing, is pointing out a weakness in the iPad. There are a ton of really smart people developing these things...I'm hoping they can find a way. Just saying.

🙂
Adobe have stopped making Flash for ALL mobile devices, not just iDevices. Other tablets do exist that offer Flash, the most sensible advice would be for you to buy one of them, a tablet that meets your requirements may even be cheapwr than an iWhatever
Flash marketing on other tablets has pretty much come to a standstill since Adobe announced that they will be producing no more enhancements to Flash for any mobile platforms.
Flash is an obsolete technology that is being replaced by standards-based solutions, i.e., HTML5, et al. Flash is headed the way of the Dodo.
Jim, that's good to know. I didn't know flash was on the way out. I love my apple products and am totally integrated, so I don't want to change to another type of tablet. I bought the iPad when it first came out and love it accept for this topic. Hopefully, over time, everyone will have to adjust their sites to work with one of the standards based solutions that are taking the lead and iPad will be able to get to mostly anything. Thanks for the info.
I beg to differ, I just installed flash from adobe on a new iMac!
Yes, and how does this relate to installing on an iPad?
Stedman
If people would take a stand and stop buying the Apple items until the Flash was installed, then maybe Apple would get the point when sales are down a Billion dollars.
But as Adobe have never managed to create a version that works on iOS and have recently announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it's not going to happen.

Only because of the restrictions set by Apple, Adobe Flash works fine on my Archos tablet
Apple simply didnt want flash on iOS so the restrictions Adobe were given to work with ment it was impossible.
