Hogwash.

Flush has not been supported/available with ANY iOS device beginning with the original iPhone released in the summer of 2007. This includes the iPod Touch and the original iPad and iPad 2. Combined sales of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad has not been hurt in the least.

Anyone not aware of this when an iOS device is purchased has been living under a rock where they will probably remain. If discovered afterwards and something needed, they can return the device for payment credit.

You know...I purchased the ipad when it first came out 20 months ago. It was the first tablet on the market. I am pretty savy with computers and gadgets, but when I purchased the ipad I had no idea that it would not be able to access websites that are driven by Flash. Why would I? What would make me think to even ask that question? the ipad was the first apple product I've owned. I've since converted to iphone and imac and like that they can all interact, so I wouldn't want to switch to a different tablet.

I just want to say that those of you that insist on being rude or name calling or saying "I live under a rock" because I didn't know about Flash not being accesible on the ipad when I purchased it, and that I didn't know that Flash is probably not going to be supported on any mobile device...well, this is a forum to get helpful answers. I didn't come out here to get put down or feel embarassed because I'm not up on following all the most up-to-date advances with all of this stuff. If I were, I wouldn't have posted out here. I'm just a user of the product.

Keep your rude and sarcastic comments to yourself. If you can't be helpful and nice...don't post. Nobody needs to feel belittled.

Thank you, to those of you that were actually helpful and nice! I appreciate it.

You will find thats how the Apple Fanboys always react.

Arrogant condescending I bet we could both write the exact same names down.

Some of them even sound as though they are employees of Apple even gong as far as telling people they are imagining battery issues.

When I got my iPhone I thought it was supposed to be the best phone, it didn't cross my mind to ask if it supported such a widely used platform such as flash, And Apple don't exactly advertise the lack of flash.

The reality is that, as Alan said, Adobe ended support for flash on mobile devices last month. It really is a moot point. HTML 5 will handle video via Ogg and Theora - though Apple has expressed its dismay at the use of open license containers for multimedia they are committed to being HTML 5 compliant. Flash is going the way of the Dodo. Too bad, I liked it, it was easy to use and easy to create with but life goes on. There are still people out there bemoaning the passing of Archie, Veronica and Gopher space but the only direction we have to go is forward.

Very appropriate comment, Meli0823. I, myself, an an Apple neophyte, only having first computed on an Apple II+ and then purchased my first Mac via the Apple University Consortium back in Septerber of 1984! ;-) I currently use a two-year-old iMac 24, an iPad 2, Apple TV, an iPhone 4 and have lost count of the number of iPods I've purchased for friends, relatives, and myself over the past several years. I have also served as cordinator of a Model Tecnology Schools Project that used only Apple computers. Seldom, however, do I post on forums such as this for the very reason you so aptly stated. I don't wish to become the target of those rude posters, either. Perhaps my dear departed mother said it best when she taught me the aphorism, "If you don't have something good to say, say nothing at all."

Concerning the Flash/iPad issue, I, too, wish I could make Flash work on my iPad sans jailbreak. Perhaps, as more and more web designers adopt HTML5, our mutual problem will go away.

Having read many of the comments regarding the absence of Flash support on Apple mobile devices, particularly the iPad, which I have owned since day one, my take on this is:

- I don't believe for a minute that Adobe had any difficulty incorporating Flash into iOS

- I also don't believe for a minute that Apple would have to "rewrite" iOS or have any difficulty incorporating Flash into iOS had they chose to do so. Apple employs some real smart coders who could support Flash in a heartbeat.

- Considering the markup and exorbitant price of these devices, especially the iPad, one would reasonably expect Apple to support a widely used function such as Flash. Yes, I acknowledge that the price and lack of Flash support was not a show-stopper for lots of people, I'm just suggesting that Apple could put the iPad within reach of even more folks by knocking a few hundred bucks off the price (depending on the specs), support Flash, and still make their stockholders lots of coin.

- It is my belief that the absence of support for Flash was the result of some petty disagreement between Jobs and Adobe which escalated into an even more petty decision to omit support for Flash from MY iPad, which was, and still is, unnecessarily annoying, despite the increasing prevalence of HTML5 and Adobe's decision to disco support for Flash. Had Flash been supported from the get go, which could have happened with cooperation between Adobe and Apple rather than animosity, we iPad animals would have been entertained by both mindless and informative web sites, many of which still display the dreaded words "Flash not supported by browser".

Allan, I was rambling about what could have been, not what is going to be. I understand that Adobe has abandoned Flash on mobile devices. My comment was no more than uninformed, misguided, wild and unfounded speculation, for which I should be severly reprimanded, which might involve going from website to website on my iPad, all with Flash content, slowly driven mad until I start repeating with a blank stare, "Why isn't Flash supported on the iPad?".
