Lol love it tonefox 🙂 I should hit the 20,000th page 🙂 Nice.

Also, just to fuel the fire a bit, I just can't help myself (I'm becoming the guy on the formus that I don't like! bah). Just a few sites that use Flash: Hulu, CNN, Facebook (mostly games), Blue Mountain, Aviary, BBC, Google Finance, Disney, Spong Bob (yes I'll miss that), and gasp many Adult sites (that shouldn't be next to sponge bob!

Thanks BK452. It is good to get a business spin on things. I'm not bashing the iPad at all, it is awesome. The article does shows where most developers will focus their efforts. If I have limited dollars, I will want to produce a website that reaches the most people (assuming those are the people I want to reach).

If you look at Apple's history, they have often had issues with getting software written for the Mac. MS Office was something that started on the Mac, but after the Apple/Microsoft "tiff" the Mac generally got very little development support.

Nothing can touch the innovation of Apple. Steve Jobs in particular created and transformed several industries. I want an iPad, I have an iPhone, I have a Mac my first computer experience was with an Apple 2 and then the Mac! 95% of what I do that isn't done mobile is on my Windows 7 PC.

Besides, who doesn't want to play The Sims Social on their iPad while in bed (yes ever so important!).

That is certainly the glossed over version. Apple was chinged without lube by a couple of the most dishonest industry biggies. Just ask the other companies that waded in on the US and the EU court cases against Micrsoft. Adobe treated Apple no better.

Bottom line, if you like Windows and Flash, buy Windows and Flash, but stop telling the company that has left both of the companies that peddle that software eating its dust what it should do with its products. Apple seems to be doing OK without Microsoft and Adobe. Period.

No problem that I can find with the BBC. I have all their TV channels live by courtesy of TVCatchup, I have their BBCiPlayer app for shows I've missed, and their news app gives me the news. I can't speak for SpongeBob (heck - I never thought to look for him. Great fan, although approaching 66 years old...I identify with Squidward) and Adult sites?? There are adult sites on the internet???? Tut.

Wonderful, more RTFM stuff!

....... a few sites that use Flash: Hulu, CNN, Facebook (mostly games), Blue Mountain, Aviary, BBC, Google Finance, Disney, Spong Bob (yes I'll miss that), and gasp many Adult sites (that shouldn't be next to sponge bob!

  • Hulu - Hulu+ is on iPad, not that useful for some as much of their good content is stillrestricted from Mobile; can play only on the computer which, of course, has Flash anyway .....
  • CNN - on iPad
  • Facebook - on iPad, including a long list of their free games
  • Blue Mountain - if you mean the stationery folks, on iPad
  • Aviary - not on iPad, but hundreds of other photo editing apps are.
  • BBC - multiple BBC apps covering about all aspects, it seems
  • Google Finance - Seriously? Google? You expect something else? You can read your portfolios on iPad, that's about all I can see. Strange that they don't port that to iOS yet .. or, not so strange.
  • Disney - tons of Disney content/apps on iPad
  • SpongeBob - Same as Disney

Adult - much more true a year or two ago than today, which you probably already know 😉. In the interests of at least cursory research I just Googled keywords "free p**n videos", 5 of the first 6 seemed to play fine at least in free areas. Refining search to "free p**n videos iPad" narrows things nicely and, while I didn't spend any time in close examinations, it looks like most itches could be scratched in the first couple or three pages of listings ....

Who cares about Adobe? I run Linux on my pcs and I watch all kinds of video including flash and I don't need Adobe or any propriatary company's software to do it. Apple knows the code is out there and that it is free to modify. So basically, we have to wait for the net to switch to HTML5 which is years away.

I couldn't use this device as a reporter and I can't use it now as a scientist. It is an oversized iPod Touch with all the limitations that thing has. Apple promised me the net in the ads, not part of the net. Apple said it is a great tool for education and science. No, it isn't. It is an entertainment device and very little more.
