The failure to display Internet sites because of no Flash support is very frustrating. I admit that I'm not the most sophisticated user in the community and that I didn't do my homework before buying this thing but I relied on Apple to provide a fully functional device. That was a mistake and I've revised my opinion of the company because of this experience.

"I bought a ball peen hammer, expecting that I could also use it to remove nails because all hammers can remove nails, right? I did not investigate the differerence between hammers or even check to see if the hammer I was buying could do what I needed. I am now going to revise my opinion of the hammer manufacturer because a ball peen hammer cannot remove nails."

Just a comment rather than a solution - I bought my IPad to have email and Internet access while traveling. if I had known the percentage of sites that would not display or the difficulties I would have with email on this device I never would have purchased it.

iPads hold their value very well, sell it and buy what you want.

I think this hits the nail right on the head! (Sorry, couldn't resist! 🙂 )

You know, regarding whether or not the iPad's performance meets or doesn't meet your expectations, it's not like you couldn't try one out. Go to any Apple store and try one for a while before you buy.... all their equipment is out for in-depth, hands-on testing.

Hi i'm very disapointed that i'm always stuck when i need to use flash on my iPad since it won't work. I hope Apple Will look into it. Otherwise when i Will change m'y iPad, i Will return to regular computer instead of Apple. Too frustrating sometimes. Other thon that i really like m'y iPad. Wish Apple try to solve these problems. Thanks.

Very unlikely to happen : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . And Adobe have apparently stopped trying to get a version of flash that works on iOS devices. Depending on what websites you are trying to access you may find that some of them have their own apps in the App Store, or that browser apps such as Skyfire or iSwifter might work (though they don't always)

I agree with others here. If had known the ipad was so limited by not having Flash I would ever have bought it. Since I had never had a problem with Flash I was not aware of how ubiquitous it is and how limiting it is to do without it. A number of my most frequently used sites for both business and nonbusiness use Flash. The ipad is almost useless working with a lot of large retail sites. Seems to me there should be a big disclaimer on the box noting that this computer does not work with one of the most widely used programs. Now I've got a nice new device with somewhat limited basic email, calendar and an address book function but little else. Glad it will not take up much space sitting on a shelf.

Big disclaimer? Seriously? Here's your big disclaimer:

It's no secret that Apple was not implementing Flash on it's i-Devices. It's been known since 2007 with the iPhone. If Flash is so important to you, you should have done your research before you bought it.

But that's all water under the bridge. Why not just sell your iPad and get an HP Touch-Pad. It supports Flash.

What websites actually waste their time with flash anymore? It's so 2001.... Just wait until HTML 5 is the standard or see if the website your trying to access has a mobile page... I mean what corporate website nowadays doesn't have a mobile page for mobile viewers. All of you people who got an iPad because it was the cool thing to do are complaining after the fact?!?! Do you research before you buy an electronic device or anything for that matter.... If you bought into the hype and don't know the workarounds because you aren't tech savvy then shame on you... Get a life, sell you iPad and waste your time with an android tablet there's almost 30 of them out there, or better yet go buy a blackberry playbook!!!! NOT..... Also, if the iPad supported flash it would most undoubtly cut your battery life in half while using the browser... not worth the trade!!!! GET A RDP or VNC program and omg?!?! YOU CAN VIEW FLASH ON YOUR iPAD!!!!

I understand that some people want Flash and some don't. I personally do. I do think it should atleast be an option for those of us who do want it. Actually, I was unaware of this problem prior to buying my ipad. The Ipad is a well made device however the absence of the flash limits me for what I want to do. Regardless if it is games on Facebook or airlines, or movies. I thought in most businesses the customer would be of a first consideration. Atleast they speak English when I have called them which hasn't been much.

Next time, I won't be looking for Apple products.

One wonders why some of the complainers in this thread bought Apple equipment in the first place, if they were so unsuitable for their needs - does no-one look at reviews and specs. before buying these days ?

Alas there is no one perfect computer/phone system - all of them, Macs, Windows, Android - have their good and not so good points. You just have to pick the best balance for your personal needs.

I 2nd that... I have a 17 inch Mac pro without a card reader, an iPhone 3 with such inferior Bluetooth that it is not compatible with any popular handsfree devices and an iPad without USB/flash capabilities that claims to be a mobile device yet depends on a pc.......fool me three times, shame on me

Kazzy, it sounds like you seriously need to upgrade your equipment. What version of OSX are you using? Jaguar? Panther? Tiger? It's no wonder your gear isn't working as you expect.... it's so old, it's not compatible with any modern equipment.
