Hi д,
I think you can get the information, call Apple to know.
Google for MBP airport triangulation to find out some way to scan for your machine.
Good luck, K.
thanks
Found this app http://www.orbicule.com/
And here nothing about parts http://www.appleserialnumberinfo.com/Desktop/index.php
Hi there,
I think you can track it down, but could not find out how without the applications that explores the devices features. So the feature is present on hardware, that is why I think you can do something.
Report here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2526
Good luck, K.
Тhanks. I further try to call my ISP and ask for my MAC-address during access to the Internet over the past time.
I have a package from my macbook and I can see the id number from the wifi , bluetoth and ethernet, but this is not mac address adapters and service centre of apple products work about 30 hours from the present time in Russia
Hi A,
Your ISP do have your MAC address if you connected directly from your Mac authenticating with their gateways. If you used a cable plugged on ethernet and ISP's modem, having the MAC address will not help that much, as what you could scan would be signal from your AirPort Extreme card.
Try to call Skyhook http://www.skyhookwireless.com/
As I understand they can provide you all information you need now.
Good luck, K.
Thanks
Hi there,
So, did you got any news?
Regards, K.
I have not found my makbook ,because in st. petersburg russia more than 100 networks and 10000 router's, so it is not possible to find makbook with the mac-adress. 😢
MAC addresses are only useful when connected to the same network. There is no real tracking you can do outside of your own network in looking for MAC addresses.
Hey, these are not good news 😟
Nothing on places you've gone, people you met?
K.
Does anyone know if Orbicule is safe and if it works? http://www.orbicule.com/products/index.html
Hi everyone, I have a question.
I recently lost my macbook pro (not even 24hours ago).
I'm unsure where it is, but my best guess is that it is left on the bus (bus company says no) or on the bench of the bus stop (no way to check other than making a police report).
I previously turned on the find my mac option in OS X Lion. So now, using my iphone and Ipad, I am able to find my iphone and ipad, but my macbook doesn't seem connected to the internet, hence i can't detect its location.
I have already put on a remote lock with password and a message of my contact details and address.
Question 1 - What are the chances of me finding my mac, given that last i used it, i switched off the wifi and it is password locked(and remote locked) to begin with...?
Question 2 - What can i further do to improve my chances? Will submitting my laptop ID given by APPLE to the police make any difference at all?
Not very good. Your remote lock won't take effect until the mac goe onlline. If the login is locked, there is no way for that to happen, thus no message with contact info on the screen.
