iPhone 4: I can hear the caller but the caller can't hear me??

It happens after a second or two on the phone the caller can't hear me but I can hear them fine. And sometimes they can hear me but my voice warped or crackly? then when I try to ring them back they can't hear me at all. Anyone else with the same problem???

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.2

My phone cracked up and I could not hear anyone as per my original post. Tried the web for info and rang Apple. Not any luck there.

No one could not tell me why it packed up directly after doing the latest upgrade. Did a full restore, several more phone calls but no go. Went back to my old Samsung. A few problems getting the small sim to fit into the old phone but after a couple of tries and some sticky tape it worked. Plastic adaptors to hold the sim are available but I found were not a perfect fit.

Was passing through Perth and was told about the local Apple retail shop. Called into the Perth retail store and staff who could not have been more helpfull. Tested the old phone but RS and no go.

Had to purchase a new phone for $179.00 as mine was over 12 months old.

The first phone they set up would not work so another one was brought out..

In future "if it's not broke, don't fix it " so no more upgrades for me unless I am in an Apple store and they do it themselves.

This is unlikely because of where we live.

So far so good. Have just returned from overseas and no problems with wifi or phone calls.

I recently ran into this issue. The first time I restarted the phone, the second time I remembered that I had just created a hands free link in my car. So out to the car, made a call but instead of using the hands free link when it connected to the car I selected "iphone" and walla I now have all my mic's working. So if you have been using your phone through a similar system you might go back and try something like this. Somehow the phone thinks it's connected to the car.

As above the ear phones and speaker worked fine as did voice memo etc.

So does anyone at Apple answer these forums? Everything is fine on my iPhone 4 except for people can't hear me when I am on the phone (either by making a call or receiving a call). I have done a back-up, I have done a restore, I have changed my SIM card, I have been to the Apple store and I have been to my carrier. Buying a new one should not be an option if something can be replaced or corrected. ⚠

Don't know if this will help but worth the look. I had a similar problem on an Iphone 4 and found that it was just turning off Pandora when finished listening to it .....but either way this is an software issue that has been going on for a long time. Check some later dated issues.

Here's the problem I faced. I have a iPhone 4 with AT&T. I have the latest iOS 5.0.1. When on a voice call the other party was unable to hear my voice. The other party couldn't hear me even if I used the white ear buds that came with the phone or even on speaker phone. All other features of the phone worked. I could even Facetime, record voice memos and use Voice Control. So I knew it wasn't a hardware problem. AT&T installed a new SIM card. Apple had me reset everthing and even do a restore. I even went to an Apple store and an Apple Genius couldn't figure out why only phone calls didn't work. He ran a diagnostics on the phone and everything checked out. His only option was to offer to sell me a replacement phone for $149, since mine was out of warranty. So today I continued my search for an answer and came to this page (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3471947?answerId=16912532022#16912532022) and noticed the little green checkmark under the "More like This" section for "Re: iOS 5 Bluetooth Bug". So I thought to myself, if theres a connection on this page, maybe it is my problem. It was worth a shot at least. So I turned Bluetooth off on my phone and now the other party can again hear my voice again on phone calls. All this and I resolved my own problem and didn't have to spend $149. CRAZY!

Ok so I ran into this in different ways. 1) do you have any bluetooth toys connected or active. 2) do you have any hands free links in your car which might be active at the time of the call. 3) Check your calling functions like speaker or other hands free devices. You might have mistakenly clicked on one of those instead of the iphone button.

If your ear buds work they are overriding the function that is turning off the normal speaker.

Good luck.
