Hi,
Try restarting your iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

Cheers DOGG
That worked, Praise the lord lol
Mmmmm Fustrating i know but, is everything in life straight forward and simple. If it was it would be a dull existance!
PS
I love my new ipad2
Thanks so much DOGG. I have had to do this with my Ipod before but forgot about this fix.
It worked perfectly!
This just barely happened to my ipad one, but it didn't happen until I upgraded to the new ipad 2 os. But the fix of the top button and the round button with the square at the same time worked perfectly. Thanks!
Thanks Dogg. The trick worked like a gem.
Hi every one, I have the same problem but any of the solutions work, does any one have another one?? Thanks...
Hi Horsemex,
What do you see on your screen now. Is it an overlap of multiple screens and it does not allow you to operate at all. Please elaborate. Also please update what was last done on the ipad when it was working.
Thanks,
Hi is working now, i did the reboot procedure but i pluged to the computer when I did that, thanks for the help.
Hi all. When trying to install the newest OS onto my iPad 1, I indvertently unplugged it near the end of the syncing process. Now, iTunes does not even recognized that my iPad is plugged in. All that shows up on the screen is a picture of the sync cord with an arrow to the iTunes logo, which I assume is telling me to sync with iTunes.....except, that iTunes does not even recognize that it's connected. I've tried the holding both buttons together, waiting until the white apple logo appears, then it comes back to the same screen, asking me to sync with iTunes. It will turn off if I just hold the power button alone, only to return the moment I hook it back up with the computer. I've since tested the cord by hooking it up to my iPhone, and it recognizes it w/o problem. I've lso rebooted the computer and gone through this whole process again, still with no success. Help!!!!!!!
Hi Waldodok,
Is the Ipad chraging when it is connected to its poweradapter?. It looks like some hardware has malfunctioned which may need to be repaired by Apple.
Thanks,
Sunil.

i cannot access t he slider because the app update has frozen and the options to close it do not work. therefore it seems imposible to access any of the features to restart the ipad. all i think i can do is to wait for the battery life to die. this so frustrating, after spending soooooooooo much money😢😢😢😢😢😢

Hello!
My iPad was frozen, and the touch screen would not work.
I saw your post, and pressed the Home button and the
Power button simultaneously. That is the only thing that
worked. Thank You very much!!
