Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V for iMovie '11?

Hi,

I'm interested in a Sony DSC-HX9V, which is on the iMovie '11 compatibility list

It's a AVCHD 1080/60i/60p camera. Here I found a sample video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdRQjIuP4Dg (reduced to 30fps/about 5Mbps)

I prefer to use progressive format, but how will this work, since iMovie

only supports making 30fps (and no 60fps) movies?

30fps would be fine, but I don't want to lose quality.

Will only every second frame be used by iMovie?

If some one here already has this camera, could I please get an exported sample video?

(I had problems with the iMovie export quality of another (Canon) camera.)

Thanks!

Thanks so much for this information!

For those who are slow, like me:

1) download & open media converter app (link in above post)

2) on media app website, click presets link at top & download the re-wrap for AVCHD preset

3) go to Preferences w/in app, click +, find preset file, click open

For Daily Use:

1) open Media Converter App

2) select Convert to "Re-wrap for AVCHD"

3) from SD card "NoName" in finder, follow: Private > AVCHD > BDMV > STREAM > *.MTS file

4) drap MTS file to App

5) find your new file, rename, place in movie folder (or as desired)

Thanks again for guiding me down a reliable (and free!) path.

Additionally in Media Converter you can select a better audio quality:

The default preset is made with the sound set on 16-bit.

You can change it in the preferences:
1. Open the 'Preferences'.
2. Select 'Presets'.
3. Double click 'Re-wrap AVCHD for Quicktime - uncompressed Audio'.
4. Change to the 'Audio' tab.
5. Here you can change it to 24-bit. (=> "PCM signed 24-bit little-endian")
