grabbing sysex data - Roland AX-7

I'd like to manage my Roland AX-7 presets using Logic:

- how to request a sysex data transfer from the midi device?
- how to tweak the data.
- how toI write back to the midi device?

I've been reading the reference manual + two other books from the Apple pro training series. No clue there...

I've also tried using SoundDiver [beta version 3.1.0] - for which I can't find a manual explaining how it can be adapted to a specific instrument.

So what, in your opinion, would be the best solution?

iMac G5 2 MHz, Mac OS X (10.4.3), Logic 7.1.1

SoundDiver was part of the Line 6 Bass Pod package I purchased years ago, and no, they didn't provide any manual, just some instructions for using it.

I thought SoundDiver was the way to go to solve my problem, but I'd need at least some directions to set up a specific interface to the Roland axe, so I can adjust the parameters and write them back like I do for the bass pod.

This librarian is apparently discontinued: I just can't find any distribution version for OS X, and there's no manual on the web. Many links get back to dead-end pages on Apple site. What gives?

You don't have sound diver 3.10 Public Beta 2?

I do have SoundDiver 3.1.0ß2 but there's no module for the AX-7, and no manual...

The manuals are like 500 pages and you can make your own editors

Certainly, but I can't find the f * manual anywhere on the web, so I can't create the specific editor [aka adaptation] I need.

You will be able to run SDPB2 if you have LP7

Well, I'm able to run SoundDiver 3.1.0ß2 alright, since it successfully checks for my access key at launch.

They used to make module-specific versions for some manufacturers

The copy I got from Line 6 was module-specific, but only ran with Mac OS 9, so I don't use it any longer.

My copy of SoundDiver 3.1.0ß2 is probably not module-specific: I dropped the Line-6 bass-pod library in the folder where all other midi devices were, and it worked like it does with Korg M1 or Yamaha SY77.

What am I missing? Can somebody help?

You're looking for programming manual 299 pages for version 2 and, version 3 addendum (3 pages). Check the top level of the SD dmg upon opening-do you have a folder named creating adaptations? I know Apple has a .dmg on their ftp, but it may or may not have the manuals, I didn't DL it but looked in a dmg I had already on my system. You have the full SD application, not OEM.
