MBP (early 2011) sticks to throttled 800MHz

I recently (10 days ago) bought a MBP (early 2011) with builtin Core i7 2.2 GHz.

Since yesterday this MBP is stuck to throttled 800 MHz and won't go to 2.2 GHz or higher!

CPU-Temperatures are at 50 degrees Celsius (idle) and 54 degrees Celsius (full load) - so forced throttling isn't required...

Even in Windows 7 or Linux i can't get higher than 800 MHz.

Latest updates to Mac OS X 10.6.7 are installed and i rebootet several times.

Any suggestions?

I had a phonecall with Apple Care - and it solved my problem:

- shutdown MBP

- remove all cables except powercable

- hold left shift/ctrl/alt and press shortly poweron while holding these keys

- release keys

- power on MBP to normal operations

-> CPU-multiplier goes up to max. 32 (3.2 GHZ) and is normally up to 29 (2.9 GHz) running a long time under full load.

Apple Care told me that my CPU got an overvoltage.

If this was a "once-in-a-lifetime" error -> no harm

If this error comes repeatedly back -> send in MBP for repair.

so far I'm happy 🙂
