By generation do you mean manufacture date? that would be Early 2011.

Hi Ipad USA: In addition to the information posted above, some folks refer to the generations as X,X In your case the most recent version would be MacBook Pro 8,1

Well, I don't know if there are 1st 2nd and 3rd generation MBP like there are iPods and iPhones, but maybethis will help you.

It looks like a 7,1 MB is the 10th revision. So perhaps an 8,1 would be the 11th revision. On MBP see this I think revision number is more appropriate than generation, but I could be wrong.
Mine use to be called "Santa Rosa." I think that is how it's spelled.

Call ZAGG. If the sales person is not helpful, try another vendor. Simple as that! 😉
