MacBook keyboard skipping letters!

Hello people!

I've been experiencing some problems lately with my Macbook's keyboard and trackpad. Everytime I type it skips letters back and forth and it's really quite crazy. And very annoying if I'm typing e-mails and essays. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. It's the same with the cursor. I had just unchecked "clicking" and "ignore accidental trackput input" under System Pref > Trackpad. But it's not helping much. I've been using this MacBook since 2008. It has been great until recently. The trackpad feels a little "tight" as well. Is there something wrong with the internal physical parts of the laptop or programs in my laptop or is there some kinda bug ? What can I do about this?

Hi Purplehaze

Make sure that mouse keys and sticky keys are not on.

System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse and Trackpad > make sure mouse keys is off

System Preferences > Universal Access > Keyboard make sure that sticky keys is turned off.

If none of that helps do a hardware test.

Here is it 2013 and I am experiencing the same problems. Have turned off Mouse Keys and Sticky Keys but my curser jumps from one area to another while typing fast and causes me to have to go back and edit what has been written. It is happening on my MBA 10.8.5 and also on my older MBP. Is there a solution?

I had this problem and it seemed to be the firewire input that was causing the issue. I moved the firewire cable that I use to connect my 2nd monitor from the port closest to me to the next port (towards back of computer) and it fixed the typing letter skipping issue and the cursor bouncing around.
