iPad 2 gets hot. Is there anything I can do?
My iPad 2 is getting hot, hotter than my original iPad. It became hot enough for my little girl to fling it off of her. Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

THis may be due to your differences in covers from the iPad 1 to the iPad 2.
Was the back exposed on the original one? Mine gets warm but it does not burn or shut down.
Back is exposed on iPad 2, didn't shut down or burn. It get's hot though, really hot. I do not live near an apple store or else I would take it in, will have to exchange through the mail it seems. 😝
My iPad 1 exhibited this about a month, ago.
It happened during charging from mains power.
The iPad power adapter was fairly hot and the back of my iPad got hot enough I couldn't hold and, apparently had got hot enough overnight when charging to put a single long crack in the iPad's glass screen.
This happened about 2 weeks before my AppleCare was about to run itself out.
I, promptly, return it to my local Apple store and was given a brand new replacement.
Reminded of the heat issues with some MacBooks, due to the battery overheat issues some years, ago.
Return your iPad for a replacement.
If bought online, and still under AppleCare, contact Apple customer support direct to explain the problems your iPad is experiencing before returning it to Apple.
They will authorize the return and make a determination and, most likely, issue you a new iPad.
I am experiencing heat from my brand new iPad2 and have never had even a bit of warmth come from my iPad1. I am assuming they tried too hard to fit everything in to what appears and feels like an unnecessary rush to thinner. Plus battery life goes down considerably faster than the 1 even with very light usage (web browsing and email only). Please post your experiences so we can determine if this is the norm or defective hardware - thanks
I had a similar experience today although it was not on a charger at the time. I picked it up around lunch and it was really hot to the touch and the battery life had drained completely despite having a full charge when I left for work at 7am. Chargjng back up now, but I'm concerned that there is a battery issue. This never happened on my iPad 1.
My iPad 2 is also getting heated not only when its charging but also at the time of using. It becomes too hot while doing some tasks on it. Also its battery getting finished by every minutes. Even if ith shows 100% battery, after 10-20 minutes you can see that it showing 70% or 80% battery. Eventhough if we put the cover for sleeping mode also the battery is getting finished. So i do have such problems for my iPad2. Did anyone have any idea about these things. If yes please give me a reply.
