trouble viewing trailers on the Apple Movie Trailers page.

I just recently started having issues viewing trailers on the Apple Movie Trailers page.

When I click on any movie, all the info and graphics come up but none of the actually trailers for the movies.

I can still view tutorials on apple.com and I don't seem to be having issues with any other websites with video.

When I go in the itunes store and view trailers they work. I tried reseting Safari and deleting quicktime files from the Library and Preferences

to no avail.

Any ideas?

Ok I have solved the problem. I clicked on Safari, then preferences, then extensions, and switched it off. After that I clicked reset Safari and then restarted my laptop. After I did all this, I went back to to the Apple trailers site and everything worked. It must have been the extensions that was not allowing the trailers to work, even though I had no extensions displayed in my preferences, turning it off and restarting everything, including restarting the computer worked.

trailers are still working in Front Row.

As a note, QuickTime Player is version 10.0 (118)

not sure that would have anything do do with it though? Unless apple has borked their trailers site content for Macbook users 😉

I'd laugh if it was so simple as as display:none; or what looks more likely like a visibility:hidden; css blunder...

Possible Fix: Change Your DNS - Then reset and empty cache in Safari. Finally restart Safari.

I had this same problem and fixed it. I tried turning off extensions, other browsers, even another computer. It occurred to me that they were all using Google DNS: 8.8.8.8.

I switched to another DNS, restarted Safari, emptied cache and reset Safari.. then restarted Safari again and I am now able to view Movie Trailers again. In my case I switched to 208.67.222.222 for DNS and things are working now.

I have exactly the same problem that appeared on May 17. Nothing described above worked. I think that this is something to do with Apple serving because I have Ipad on the same wireless router and Apple trailers do not work on it as well, hence, this is not a particular desktop problem. Restarted router-nothing. Removed QuickTime preferences-nothing. Swithed off extensions-nothing for now. Incidently, same trailers work on the itunes store site.

This is frustrating!

Well if you load firebug here are a couple of errors:

  1. Illegal character in scriptaculous.js (line 1) --> why would they need to encode that crap I have no idea, or maybe it's being transferred as binary while it is a text/js?
  2. Builder is not defined - this.swapViewElement = Builder.node('div', {'class:'overlayPanelContent'}); in overlay_panel.js (line 66)

This my friends is apple's webmasters' fault. Chillax while they fix it - hopefully they know about it.

Tested in: Safari, Chrome, FF 4.0.1 on OS X 10.6.7; IE7, IE8, FF 4.0.1, Opera 10, Chrome, Safari on Windows. They all exhibit the same behavior.

I also have the same problem on a brand new MacBook Pro (10.6.7). I have tried it in Safari (5.0.5), Firefox (4.0.1), and Chrome (11.0.696.68) and none of them show any trailers. I turned extensions off and it did not work.

I then checked my old PowerBook G4 (10.5.8) and it also doesn't show trailers through Safari. When going to trailers.apple.com this message comes up "We're Sorry The Apple.com Trailers Application has encountered an error. The team's been notified and we're looking into it. Error initializing Trailers Application"

They all worked fine a few days ago.
