Strange artifact?

Well... I'm getting this strange pixel type artifact with my RAW pictures in the same place all of the time when previewing them with the preview application in OS X. If I open them with another program such as Aperture or save them to a different format the artifact seems to go away. I'm pretty sure it's not from the camera or lens since it's only there on preview of the RAW images. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

No artifacts when recording video either, just when previewing RAW images.

Is this a screenshot or a photo from an external camera?
If it is an external camera, it may be a dead pixel!

it's a screen capture when previewing with the preview application in OS X. the second image is after saving to a different format and then previewing again, the artifact is gone.
