Generic RAM from Viking OK?

Hi all,

There is a retailer in the UK selling 1GB of generic PC2700 SODIMM by Viking for around £80... and I am wondering if anybody has experience of installing this particular module in a 12" PB G4: Viking part DDR128X64SOD2700

(Full description: Viking DDR128X64SOD2700 Generic Products 1GB DDR333/PC2700 SO DIMM)

We all know generic RAM is not recommended for Powerbooks for sound reasons of compatibilty. Using Viking's Memory Configurator shows up a different part number corresponding to more expensive RAM. But you never know, if it works this could be the deal I am looking for.

I am not trying to open up a general thread on generic RAM as it has been dealt with before. The consensus seems to be that generics are best avoided but some people have got lucky with other brands.

So has anybody used this specific module?

Thanks,

Gaberdine
