Okay, so this was the most impressive thing it ever happened to one of my iDevices.

I've updated firmware lots of times, but never something like this happened.

Aperently, when I updated iPhone 4 from 4.3.2 to 4.3.3, I received error "No SIM card" after phone rebooted.

I tried removing sim card and re-entering, no sucess.

It asked me to activate the phone with a NO-PIN card. ( Oh Great! )

After a few reboots and hardware resets, I was ready to give up.

I tried to "Restore to factory Settings". ( Oh It's 4 AM ALREADY?? )

After many time, here we go again, No SIM card.

In a last desperation, I found another small SIM card that I had never used and from same carrier.

Let's try...What the....?? It works ??

Now, with the old card...No Sim Card ??

Okay, so today I went to the carrier representatives, that got me a new SIM card, with same phone number, and now, everything is back to normal with 4.3.3.

My question is ( they could not answer me this one ), was my SIM card damaged by the UPDATE ? I mean, I have the iPhone 4 for a few months, never messed with the SIM card and allways protected the iPhone as if it was my own SON, never had any problems, and now I update to a new firmware and after rebooting, the SIM card is DAMAGED ?

Don't tell me it was a coincidence. I don't belive that one. I've seen other people with similar problems here, I wounder if this update to fix bugs caused more damage than performance...

To anyone having this problem, get a new SIM card.

I'm only guessing here based on my own experience and previous posts I've read regarding SIM card issues. It's possible that the update messed with the carrier driver that is installed on your phone via SIM card. So in a sense it did mess with the SIM card you had. Evident when you replaced that SIM with another, and it worked. Glad to hear you got your problem resolved.

Same here...

After updating my iPad from 4.3.2 to 4.3.3 --> "Invalid SIM", "SIM failure".

So I tested this SIM Card in my iPhone (4.3.2) and the SIM is OK and fully functional!

Restore with iTunes did not fix this issue.

After Unlocking SIM an error pops up "SIM failure" and on the upper left corner it says "invalid SIM"

Any Ideas? Is there a bug in 4.3.3?

I tried reinserting the SIM card, and it ended up working fine. 🙂

It was interesting though, because when I had 4.2.1 on my iPhone 4 , I used Gevey SIM, and when I updated my firmware to 4.3.3, iTunes told me that now I have an unlocked iPhone. So, I only put the original sim tray in it, and it worked right a way. But after a battery drain, I had to restart the iPhone and it showed me the "NO SIM INSTALLED" message. I tried rebooting a few times, then I tried reinserting the SIM, even Gevey SIM, neither way worked.

I was about the reset the sofware, I even thought about downgrading back to 4.2.1 again. I gave it a last try and it worked fine... 😀

Apple have to fix this issue, because I see a lot of people complaining...

Seems to be a correlation to a 4.3.3 update, reboot and issues. Yours isn't the first I've heard, I've also read and experienced myself of settings be reset to default after updating to 4.3.3 and rebooting your phone afterwards Not the reboot the phone does after the update, but when you have to reboot for some reason. In my case 4.3.3 made my phone lag, so after a little while of putting up with it, I decided to reboot my phone to see it will help, then I started hearing the wrong ring tones, SMS settings were reset to default, same with notifications. And I got a NO SIM message on my phone, which was easily fixed by removing and re-inserting the phone. I hope there are no more surprises with 4.3.3. Lags are still there by the way.
