Macbook Pro 13 2011 hdmi + TV = fail!

Greeting to the community,

I am facing an issue with a new macbook pro 13 (2011, i7, OSX 10.6.7) when i connect it with a Sony Bravia TV (KDL-40BX400). The miniDP-->hdmi adapter used is the one manufactured by Moshi. During the first 10 or so minutes it delivers perfect graphics and sound. Then all of a sudden, the colors are turned into their negative values (sort of). It's pretty much the same problem that the owners of apple TV have described here:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2600405

None of the following actions have helped:

1) firmware update of the TV

2) change of hdmi cables

3) change of the moshi hdmi adapter

4 tweak color profiles, calibration, resolutions, refresh rates….. you name it….

5) pram/nvram, smc reset

6) miniDP-->DVI doesn't deliver a signal at all!

7) EFI Update 2.1 and Software Update 1.4 DO NOT solve the issue (5/5/2011)

The TV is perfectly working and I 'd never had an issue with macbook alu late2008 via miniDP-->hdmi or miniDP-->dvi-->hdmi.

So the problem is known to exist for almost a year now (ATV) and has spread to the 2011 macbook pros. Good job indeed!!

I didnt have the time to test it, but i hope it changes something...!!!

After upgrading thunderbolt to the latest firmware, i watched tv for a few hours yesterday. In the past the issue appeared quite often, yesterday just once. Nevertheless, obviously it didn't resolve the problem completely.

Has anyone else tried connecting to a tv after upgrading to the latest firmware?

I updated to Lion and was able to watch two episodes of true blood without having the color issue on my Philips TV. Fingers crossed that the update to Lion rally solved the problem.

I also updated to lion and watched tv shows the last 2 evenings without any problems. It seems updating to lion solved the problem.

I did not had problems with my macbook(early 2011) before updating to Lion with my Philips Tv but now nothing works at all. :-( The custumer service said I have to wait for an update... :-( (I am using a Hama Mini Display to HDMI plug)... it doesn't work with my thunderbold port but with an older macbook of a friend of mine it all works fine with the same tv and the same hama plug (strange...?) I think it could be an Thunderbolt problem in lion. If I start bootcamp the connection is established directly....

Does anyone knows what to do?

Problem fixed after Lion install, but I think it's really the thunderbolt firmware fix of june 26th. 🙂

Problem still exists with MBP 15" 2011 and Sony KDL-40P5600. Installing lion didnt help atall. It seems like they only fixed this problem with phillips tv-s.

I have the same problem with my MacBook Pro 13" 2011 model, and a Sony KDL-32EX402.

I have a MiniDisplay to HDMI cable, but the colors invert very randomly. I have OS X Lion but that hasn't helped on the problem.

I read that the problem involves various models of tv, macbook, apple tv. Then it is a problem of Apple.

We call on always the technical support and ask to open a case. I contacted Apple Support
