I will try to explain, my english is not so well.

First I reset my airport pressing the button for 10 sec, than I turn on the Utility Airport.

After that the Utility find the airport, then I press "continue" (that is the first screen I told before), after that a message appears saying

an error occurred joining the selected wireless network

and I can't try to configure, because the message appears and That's it. A error occurred, and I can't find the airport.

Do you understand?

tks

If you held down the reset button until the status light blinked rapidly several times, then you did a "hard reset" of the AirPort Express. In that case it should be broadcasting a network name in the form "Apple Network xxxxxx" and you should look for and select that network under the AirPort menu bar icon before you try to use AirPort Utility.

If you didn't do a "hard reset", then the AirPort Express may be broadcasting the earlier network name. In this case you should select the network name under the AirPort menu bar icon. Also, in this case you may want to use the option "Manual Setup" instead of "Continue".

Why did you want to reset the AirPort Express?

What I'm trying to say is that I did everything to my utility recognize my airport.

I did the hard reset, turned off my mac, turned off my modem, but the Utility can't configure the Airport.

I wanna know why my airport express doesn't work. I can see the airport name at the menu bar on the left, than when I click "continue" that massage cames.

Did the status light blink rapidly several times when you reset the AirPort Express? Did you select the network of the AirPort Express from the AirPort menu bar item (not in AirPort Utility)? Have you tried the "Manual Setup" button in AirPort Utility?

You might also try connecting your Mac to the AirPort Express with an Ethernet cable untill you can complete the configuration process.

You select the network of the AirPort Express by pulling down the AirPort menu bar icon (the one that looks like a fan) and selecting the entry of the AirPort Express that appears below that icon. For a factory-reset AirPort Express it should have a name in the form "Apple Network xxxxxx", where the x's are the last six characters of the AirPort Express' "AirPort ID".

Sorry William, but I don't understand your point.

I will explain again, step by step.

I plugged the airport with my ethernet cable plugged on it, than I openned the utility airport and start to scan. After a few attempts the utility could find the airport. So far so good.

After that the problems start. I press continue and the painel (down in the left side) says "joining wireless network". After a few minutes (more or less 2min) the massage appears. A pop up ut the page in the right side says " an error occurred joining the selected network"

And I tried everything. With the internet cable directly in my Mac, or direct on the airport.

The message is the same.

What sould I do?

Tks

Daniela,

I think you are doing things correctly, and you may have an AirPort Express that has an internal problem.

Please try a Factory Default Reset:

Power off the AirPort Express for a few minutes

Hold in the reset button....and keep hoiding it in....while you plug the AirPort Express back in to power

Continue holding the reset button for 8-10 seconds after you plug the Expess in to power and then release the reset button

The AirPort Express will have a solid amber light for about 30-40 seconds and then it will begin to slowly blink amber after 40-45 seconds

Try and see if AirPort Utility will communicate correctly with the AirPort Express.

If it still will not function, please try the following:

Open AirPort Utility and click on the File menu at the upper left hand corner of your screen next to the Apple icon

Select "Configure Other"

Enter the following in the Address area:

10.0.1.1

Enter the following in the Password area

public

See if AirPort Utiliity can communicate with the AirPort Expess now. If it still will not allow you to connect, I really feel that it is possible that you have a defective AirPort Express that should be exchanged for another device.
