Go to your Settings --->General--->Reset--->and choose, Reset Network Settings. This will clear all of the past tries to connect to Wifi. Once you reset, go back into your Wifi options and will be able to see your router. Once you choose it, it will ask for your security code and everything should connect fine.

THIS WORKED! I tried many of the solutions listed here before finally trying this one. Like everyone else, I verified that there was nothing wrong with my home network. Many other devices connected just fine. It was the iPhone 4. It wouldn't connect to ANY wifi network, no matter where I was.

This solution is simple and it completely solves the problem.

Thanks Bailly,

I too had similar problems (Unable to join, etc)

Resetting the network on the iPhone 4 seems to have worked, however I will only be comfortable after a month or so with no problems. One thing that may be confusing to some, is that the iPhone dialog asks for the "password".

In my case, with a D-Link DIR-655 Exreme N router, it is actually looking for the "security key" - a totally different thing.

Also this security key (alpha-numeric) must be entered in upper case.

Thanks again,

Alec Brown

I am deeply grateful for you for writing this message. I have been going crazy trying to 'Join' my household wi-fi router. I had it working in the past but forgot about the password my iPhone 3Gs asks for is labeled Security Key/Passphrase in my router's information list. I tried all caps first but that didn't work so I keyed it in exactly like it's listed and hallelujah and thank you so much.

Glad to see it helped. Thanks again to Bailly for pointing in the right direction.

re: "all caps". I shouldn't have made the blanket statement "must be upper case". That is the case for my router, but may not be for others. As you did, enter it as it is shown or recorded.

Maybe this will help others as this seems to be an ongoing issue. This forum alone is 30 pages long with 200K+ views. It appears we were not the only two who were confused, enraged and frustrated.

*************I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION**********************

I had problems when i switched my internet to att uverse. the wireless network key on the side of the router/modem was not the key needed to be inputed into my iphone when joining the network. What I have found to be the solution is: accessing my computer, then going to the control panel, then going to network and internet, then to manage wireless internet. I proceeded to find my wireless connection(2WIRE***) double clicked it and went to the security tab. it gave the option to view the characters in the network security key. I inputed this key into my iphone when joining my wifi connection and my iphone can now fully connect to the internet via my home wifi.

AS A SIDE NOTE: originally the key that i would input to my iphone for the wifi was always the one given on the side of my router/modem. But for some reason that one stopped working. After about half a hour fiddling with my internet settings I found my solution.

Glad you've solved it for you Amplifer!

Great work!

However, this doesn't make sense to me...

What operating system are you using? Sounds like a PC to me?

On my computer... a mac?

Control panel... I presume you mean System Preferences?

I can find the Network panel.

I can find my home WiFi network.

I am not able to double click on it.

Therefore no security tab.

Really frustrated here... No solution from Apple, no solution from a users group I pay to be on and no answer from my ISP. I feel like giving the phone back.

I think the above post is the most sensible in the thread, there are so many work around's posted here it reflects the users desperate efforts to correct an obvious Apple flaw with the iPhone Wi-Fi

Like many others I suffer from this problem and am forever resetting my iPhone, forgetting my network, in fact most using most of the suggestions on here

They do work for a while but then its back to no connection on my home network, for my iPhone

Its Apple's problem and users should be putting pressure on them to solve it IMHO
