Q: iMac 12,2 (mid 2011) airport (wireless) problem

10.7.2 has been quietly updated with a small issue addressed to do with connecting to a network after sleep. 

This may or may not address the issues disscussed in this thread.  My update is installing now...

I'm also having this issue with a Mid-2011 iMac running Lion 10.2.  I had hoped the EFI firmware update released last night (Oct 26) would help, but my wireless conked out shortly after.

My troubles seem to be related to connecting to my Snow Leopard Server for filesharing, and specifically when using that connection heavily (which is, unfortunately, when I need the connection most) while coding and saving to the network drive, or doing large file transfers.

Anyone else have any luck on this?

I should also note that my problem seems unrelated to the computer sleeping, and much more related to significant throughput.  The more/longer I push data through the airport connection, the more often it ceases to function.

So far the only thing that bring it back is either a full reboot, or turning WiFi on and off.

DHCP Release/Renew has no affect, reordering my network interfaces hasn't helped, and I have a very strong connection to my Linksys E3000 router on a 5Ghz wireless N-only network.  My next step is to test it against a 2.4Ghz G-only setup...

I am currently using 27 inch i7 imac mid 2011 with Mac Os X 10.7.2, just bought a weeks ago.

I am still having the wireless internet connection problem eventhough i followed the steps provided by sunfelow.

The message was , " Wi-Fi does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet".

The Wi-Fi internet connection is WPA2 Personal using Cisco .My housemate still get the wireless connection using his Old Compaq Notebook runs on windows 7.

Please help me to solve this problem.

Even, i'm taking my initiative to looking Networking officer in my campus, he already clear the wireless cache and lease from the router, then he provided me the ip adress, subnet mask, router/gateway number to set manually but It failed.

I called the Apple careline , then he provided me alot of way to solve the problem, also failed.

Any other options/way to solve this problem..? tq

I hope Apple Support Communities can provides new and effective solution.

Sooo, 36 hours straight of pumping data through my wireless connection when it's connected via 2.4Ghz G-only, and it's been rock-solid.  The only problem is that my real-world speeds on G are 1/3 (or less, even) than the 5Ghz N connection!  I don't want to get stuck with G.

I may call Apple in the next couple days to see what they recommend.

Since the recent firmware update my 2011 iMac's connection issues have worsened: it won't stay online for more than a second now.  I had to use my 2010 MacBook Pro to post this, which has rock solid connectivity btw, as well as my iPhone.

(I tried switching to wireless G only but it didn't help.)

I've been experiencing this, and none of the fixes posted here have worked.

The one thing that holds off the drops is having an active Screen Sharing connection with my Macbook Pro. Maybe see if that works for you.

Same issues here.  mid2011 imac 21.5" i7, lion10.7.2, airport time capsule.    Bought 3 months ago, problem started occurring two weeks ago.    No issues on any other computer in the house, several pcs and one macbook.     Message TXQ MAX DEPTH!!!   Tried a few solutions mentioned in this thread, no success.   At first, it appeared to only occur on large file xfers, either between imac and capsule or internet video streaming.  Now it has regressed to about every few minutes regardless of activity... random...Frustrating.   $2000+ ????

Change the batteries in you mouse or install windows 7 on boot camp is my suggestion.  That seems to be the only two things that can help.

I finally seem to have solved my problem.  I bought a wireless-N router.  My 2011 iMac has had a solid connection ever since. 

My previous router was B-G Netgear router, but I didn't think that was the issue because my 2010 MacBook Pro never lost its connection nor did my iPhone 4; only my iMac was having the drops.

But apparently the 2011 iMac only likes wireless-N.

My new router is the inexpensive Netgear N-300 btw.

Will post back if I have any more probs.

I'm having a problem similar to all the other posts on this thread - from the beginning! I started a post myself that explains my situation so that I can refer to it with Apple Store help. It doesn't much look like that will help though. My WiFi connection isn't just intermittent, it flat out isn't working at all now. This is a 27 inch iMac running 10.6.8 (was 10.6.4 out of the box) that I took delivery on in September from MacMall. This is the link to my post: Lost Ability to Connect to WiFi

Seems as though there is no solution, which kinda *****. If I go into the Apple store I will be sure to show them this thread also but I don't have a good feeling about getting this connection problem resolved.

I just did the AirPort update to 7.6

my iMac's connection speed I think just doubled...

I haven't had any dropping connection problems in a while, but it wasn't "fast" even though it said connected at 450.

I'll wait and see what tomorrow brings after my iMac sleeps tonight, but so far... i have speed!

My iMac stayed connected to my old router for the last several days but I upgraded to a new DSL modem and Wireless B/G/N dual-band router anyway to take advantage of the extra speed of 5 GHz N and also I didn't trust that I wouldn't be disconnected from the old router again. Now, I'll just wait and hope that I don't lose connection again.
