You installed a vicious malware product. Never ever install something you know nothing about. Do a search for "MacProtector" and you'll find plenty of threads about it and how to get rid of it.

nisargmehta, you have to ensure you tell your credit card company that you did NOT receive anything (e.g. they will ask you if you received an activation code in any format -- email, pop up, etc., because many people have been conned into this scam). if you repeatedly insist you received nothing, they can go ahead & dispute the charge. otherwise, your credit card company will tell you 'we're sorry, but we cannot dispute the charges because you received an activation code' & give you a line about not being responsible for 'quality of product' issues & then advise you to take it up with the vendor directly or in small claims court. ultimately, if you tell them you did receive an activation code, then you are still on the hook for the $100 'stupid tax'.

After trying a malware program that could not even locate this vicious app, I tried this - and it seems to have worked:

I changed the name of the app in Applications to jjjjjjjjjjj (of course you can use anything as long as none of the original name or ext remains).

I was asked "are you sure you want to change the name while the file is open?" I replied 'yes'.

I was then asked 'are you sure you want to change the ext. while the file is open'. I said 'yes'.

I was then able to drag the file to trash. I emptied it under 'SECURE' empty trash.

It seems that all traces are gone now. Could it really be that easy?

Oh, before I did that, I got rid of 'Google Chrome' because that was where all the **** was coming from, not Safari.

I hope this is helpful.
