_gc._tcp record not found in child domain
Hello there,
I'm currently doing a clean setup of OS X server 10.6.7
The AD domain I'm connecting to is a child domain.
domain.net is the parentdomain
child.domain.net is the child 🙂
Before binding it to AD i'm veriying the DNS records in the AD domain.
As such:
- sudo changeip -checkhostname (checked out)
- host -t SRV _ldap._tcp.child.domain.net (checked out)
- host -t SRV _kerberos._tcp.child.domain.net (checked out)
- host -t SRV _kpasswd._tcp.child.domain.net (checked out)
- host -t SRV _gc._tcp.child.domain host _gc._tcp.child.domain.net not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
However when I do the same thing to the domain.net it shows all the domain controllers in the forest, including the ones in the child.domain.net.
Do I have to do anything to point the OS X Server to the AD global catalog?
Will it affect my Magic triangle negativly if I just ignore this and go on binding, and so on?
I was thinking about making a DNS SRV record manually on our (windows) DNS server, but I'm not certain what the effects will be on the AD domain.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
grtz
