It charges just great....with the cable from the USB port of my computer or the original charger. But the USB port is inconvenient when I'm traveling and I want to try to reduce the charger blocks to just one for my iPod, iPad and iPhone.
Went to the local Apple store this weekend (local to where I'm at presently) and we tried the new 12w charger, plus as many of the different, older chargers they had on hand. Nada. If we connect it to the small, iPhone charger, the iPod at least senses that the charger is there. Didn't leave it on long enough to know what it will do since that charger is designed specifically for the phone and is not indicated as being iPod compatible. It keeps coming down to the charger. The "genius" at the store tried to look up the specs for my ipod. They aren't available. I tried searching by model number. Nothing even comes up. The only only thing that the "genius" could offer is that the iPod is shutting off any charger that is offering more power than the iPod can handle.
