How to recover photo's from SD card deleted in error by iPad2?

I deleted the whole contents of my SD card after uploading to the iPad 2 using the camera

connection kit, in fairness it did ask if I wanted to but hit the screen as it rotated so confirmed

in error.

I now have the SD card in my iMac card slot and have tried already to run recovery software

on the memory device but it doesn't find any deleted items.

Does the iPad delete the file name header differently than a camera or iMac would which would

explain how the recovery software (tried 3 different products) can't see the deleted files?

Any advice welcomed

I don't know how the iPad deletes photos from the card, but if you have the photos on the iPad then you can transfer them to your iPad : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 (you can also use apps such as Simple Transfer, which also has a free 'lite' version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer)

Hi Madpa01,

I have done the exact same thing and lost some video I really want to recover! I thought I would check if you had any success before I start mucking around with SD recovery software.. I suspect I may encounter the same problems as you had as the iPad 2 probably has a funny way of formatting the SD card :(

Great news, I found a solution and have restored ALL deleted pictures from my iPad2 back

to my iMac.

I realised that all the recovery software for SD cards is subject to one key fact, that you've not overwritten the data with fresh data. I'd continued to use my SD and had another 600+ shots on it, as at that stage they were on the iPad but it overwrote the orginal images on the card.

The method I used was to purchase PhoneView v2.6.3 from www.ecamm.com for $20, it's designed for the iPhone but works perfectly on the iPad 2, ENSURE you close iTunes before running, and it will scan the iPad and find any deleted media, in my case the missing 100+ pictures I'd lost. It should perform well with movies also.

Simply the best $20 I've spent as the lost images were priceless!!
