Ipad 2 says not charging when plugged into computer?

I do not think this is the answer as my husbands ipad charges without being in sleep mode in the same computer my ipad won't charge in. 😟

@tonefox I see what you're suggesting, but why did it use to charge via USB on my PC, with the "Charging" display, and now it doesn't?

This is not related to the iOS 5 update as this happened much before, and nothing has changed to my PC in all that time.

Also, when I turn it off (after I already plugged it into the PC) it does not display the battery charging graphic, but is it still charging, even though that hasn't appeared?

I then tried turning it off, then plugging it in, but then it just wakes up. I think that's a setting thing though. Will test that.

WOAH i had the same problem but now fixed i just did a software update. Before it said not charging and now its charging(i think).

Are you absolutely sure that it is not charging?

I don't really have a clue about any of this, but I just noticed that my iPad 2 (which was at a little over 60% this morning) is at 100% now after it has been plugged to my computer. I left it plugged in after a sync and it did say "Not Charging" by the battery, but apparently it has been charging.

Your iPad can't charge when plugged into your computer because it requires more energy to charge so it works best and charges faster when you use a wall plug. But if you leave your iPad charging on the computer for a long period if time (overnight) it will eventually start charging.

I had a similar issue. I had mine plugged into my a USB on my computer and it was at 34 percent. I left for work and when I came back it was at 100 percent. This will require an update of some sort.

Check what else is plugged in. I had the same issue this week with my ipad2 plugged into the back of my iMac. Turns out it was the steelseries gaming mouse I had plugged into my keyboard. Moved it to the back of my iMac, bam, lighting bolt. Moved mouse back to USB port on keyboard, iPad back to not charging.

Check that you have the right connector. Use the cord that comes with the iPad and not an older one.
