How to assign a color profile using iPhoto 11?

I would like to assign a color profile to one or more images using iPhoto 11. The ColorSync tutorial states that I can select "Embed ColorSync profile" in the Advanced Tab of iPhoto>Preferences. I can not find that option. How to assign a profile?

iPhoto '11, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

I would like to know what is the best method of assigning aspecific profile to an image, or to all the images in a set for the followingreasons:

  • I want to process the specific image forprinting on my home printer using the Adobe RGB (1998) color profile
  • I want to convert to the sRGB IEC61966-2.1profile on images so that I can meet the requirements of our photo club fordigital image projections in competitions
  • I want to convert to the Noritsu printer profilefrom Costco on images that I send to print there. These profiles are paper specific

I have tried to sort through all the info on assigningprofiles to images to be processed in iPhoto and come up with a plethora of“advice” ranging from the use of Preview or ColorSync to the fuzzy reference tocreating an AppleScript. And then thereis the misdirection that says “Select ‘Embed ColorSync profile’ to assign acolor profile” in the iPhoto>Preferences>Advanced when that choice doesnot exist in iPhoto 11. Some places saythat the assignment has to be done prior to importing into iPhoto. Seems awkward. What is true here?

So what is the preferred method of assigning a profile andwhy isn’t it more accessible?

OT, A very helpful answer above. Thanks.

I would like to ask you one more question, not related to this thread:

I have been trying to sign in to my normal Apple ID but have been failing with the following error message:

We're sorry. Your account could not be created due to system issues.
Please contact Apple Support Communities with the information below to create your account.

I called Apple Care and they said that they could not help me. I asked where I could go. They said they did not know. I tried that same Apple Care login ID on iTunes, and the Apple Store without a problem. I then created a new login ID and have been able to sign in to the Apple Support Communities and hence this thread. I would like to be able to go back to my original account; however, I am being blocked as you can see.

How can I get help with my issue.

Thank you for your assisstance.

Regards,

Ken
