My iPhone 3GS will no longer pick up my wi-fi signal unless I'm 3 ft from the router. It has worked fine for 2 years obtaining a strong signal. Also, wi-fi signals in local area are gone too.

About a week ago my signal strength dropped way down. I've reset the network settings, rebooted etc. Can certain apps or too many apps screw up wi-fi? Can the chips burn out? The phone is nearly 2 yrs old. My laptop, my desktop and my wife's 3GS get the signal fine.
