When I download an attachment in an email it is obvioulsy saved somewhere. Can anyone tell me where it is saved and further, how can I organize files. I'm new to ipad and was looking for someting like the finder on my G5! 😊

The file in question is a PDF file. I clock on the attachment, the wheel spins and tehn nothing. So I assume that the ipad doesn't have the ability to open .pdf files? Is there something like Preview or Acrobat reader that I can download? Any recommendations?
Unless you did 'open in' on the attachment then it won't be saved in any other app - it will just be linked to the email in the Mail app, and can only be accessed via the email. Depending on the type of attachment you can download apps so that you can have access to the attachment without needint to keep the email e.g. the free iBooks app can store PDFs, as can they more powerful (but paid for) GoodReader
From the manual (downloadable from http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad) :
Open an attached file: Tap the attachment to download it to iPad and then open it. If iPad doesn’t support the format of an attached file, you can see the name of the file but you can’t open it.
Open an attached file with a different app: Touch and hold the attachment, then choose an app. If you don’t have any apps that can open the attachment, you can view it, provided it’s a file type that iPad supports.
PDFs are supported - I've had no problems viewing them as email attachments nor in Safari, and they are listed as one of the supported types. Has the PDF got digital rights management on it ?
i have similar questions with photos sent through gmail. i can open them on m new ipad2 but i would like to save them to get them in iphoto? any clue? thank you
Tap and hold down on the photo, a pop up box with options will appear. Tap the Save Image option and it will be saved to the Photo App. On the iPad 2 I think it will save in the Camera Roll album.
