Is PodWorks dead?

I always used to use PodWorks to get music off my iPod (in case of a HD crash or reformat) but that program seems to be dead. Hasn't been updated in years. What has happened to it? The existing version still works, but I do have an older iPod (classic) and I fear that if I get a newer iPod, it might break PodWorks.

ScifiHifi's website is still up, and the program is still available for download, but I wonder what happened to its development. Anyone know?

Dang it, why can't I edit these messages? I posted them!

Anyway, here is the ScifiHifi site for the program I know as PodWorks:

And here is the site for ImTOO's program that THEY call PodWorks:

That ImTOO site is raising serious red flags with me. It appears very overpriced compared to the ScifiHifi program of that name. Also ImTOO's site has...questionable English, at best. So I'm wondering if it's even safe to use.

ARE these the same program? They don't look it. How is ImTOO allowed to nick the name (if that's what they've done)?

It is a software program. It won't "break". The worst that will happen is is won' t work with new iPod.

But why are you worried about that at all?

They don't yet make the iPod touch you want. Even then you can simply use iTunes.

But if for some reason, you do not want to use iTunes, wait until you get a new iPod and see what is available for at that time.

Aything available now may not work with a new iPod.

I have the same concern and it is currently not for sale due to questions about upgrading it to iOS 5. So I can't even buy a license even though I need it for an older version iPod / 10.4. http://www.scifihifi.com/podworks/

Also, it doesn't display a song list even though it recognizes the device, and the device is marked to show up manually on disk, it shows zero songs... this is on an iPod nano, 5th generation (I think).
