Push Notifications Are Not Working

I'm currently using an iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3.3) and push notifications have stopped working. The only app that seems to still be pushing is TextPlus. In my case Facebook, Scrabble, Gowalla and Twitter have all stopped working.

Here is what I have already tried:

  1. Restored my iPhone
  2. General --> Reset --> Reset All Settings

None of these things worked. Are there any suggestions that will definitively help fix this issue? I'm at a loss.

Thanks

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.2

I don't think this is the problem..

My iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) is also facing the same problem, but what i noticed is that the push notifications for Facebook and some other apps were working very fine until my office WiFi network decided to start blocking the some ports which these push notifications were using i believe.

After that connection on that day, I realised that one other messaging program did not push to me my messages during the time when I was connected to my office WiFi because they did not allow the connection to my phone.

After this day the my entire push notifications for Facebook and some apps stopped working 😟 😟 😟

Hope the tech support team at Apple can quickly find a solution to this problem! Push notifications is really a useful thing and I feel I have been shortchanged as it has stopped working.

I also have tried "Reset Network Settings" but it still does not fix the problem!😠

Well it cant hurt to try. It doesnt solve Wifi issues. if that is the case than just change the dns settings to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 . This has worked with me and 2 other people..so this is a fix for people who werent receiving facebook notifications..Now I get ALL of my notifications. Just go into your facebook and de activate and than reactivate. What about usign 3g network while at work?

Also if they have a firewall, than there may not be anything you can do..I doubt you want to be logging into their router settings to disable the firewall LOL

If you dont try .. you will never know. I dont know why but I think once you deactivate you account and then reactivate it resets everything.

After the day my work WiFi blocked the port - and I received a message from a messenger program, I could not receive any push notifications from Facebook and the other messaging app - QQ messenger. This continued (can't receive push notifications from these apps) even after I reverted back to using 3G when I was out of work.

I can't disable the firewall as I will be sacked 😝 anyways.. I think this is an irritating and petty problem which Apple should solve in their next update..

I can't deactivate Facebook as I am admin / group owner which will not be restored even after I reactivate it. There should be another way around this problem!!

I'm not understanding?? U can't deactivate your Facebook account. I did and I got all info back ... You are admin of what exactly?? There is no other way!! Like I said deactivating the Facebook account pretty much resets everything to make push work . Also it's not apple that is the problem. That's what I thought too but it is the apps in which you are using!

Well so i see many are facing this problem. I have many friends who updated their iphone to ios 5 and they said it works quite well. I was actually attracted to how the push notfications works so i upgraded mine. Things work pretty good but only recently I couldn't receive any notifications for Whatsapp (especially), facebook not at all, games and etc etc but only Mail is working... Only mail...

I checked evrything in the notification centre make sure evrything on, even go to individual apps to make sure evrything on... I reset my iphone to original settings several times but still the same... At first I thought if my iphone is the problem one coz why is it only my phone, why all of my friends' phone are working fine until I saw this thread... I read thru tis thread and follow evrything, n its not working at all... So I reset my phone again, redownload the apps, deactivate & activate back my fb etc etc... Change wifi dns... LYK EVERYTHING in this thread but stil not working... My Iphone is even on IOS 5.1 now and still quite bad... I tink its the IOS 5 bug... Just hope Apple can fix all this *****....

I cannot deactivate my Facebook as I'm an admin of a group, I will also lose this admin status once I deactivate it. And I want the Facebook and QQ messenger app to work as well for the push notifications..

I also cannot delete and reinstall the messenger app as this contains all my chat history with my girlfriend! I cannot delete that off also.

It is Apple's problem which had designed it this way, I hope the tech team will get it fixed in the next update.

Btw, I have updated mine to iOS 5.1 but it still does not fix this problem.

hey there, I've found a way to reactivate PUSH again for Facebook!!

I followed some guidelines on the What's App FAQ here: http://www.whatsapp.com/faq/#i1

and then even after following the What's App FAQ, it still didn't work after,

so I decided to go to Settings - Facebook - Push notifications and switch each one off and on once more, and restart Facebook, (I think i also switched off my phone for 30 seconds and swithed it on once more). Facebook PUSH notifications are working fine now for me!

however, it PUSH still does not work for QQ messenger until today though 😟

You probably already fixed it but i had thos proble with iOS 5.1 and i had all the push notifications set up on the facebook app in settings but i was getting nothing.

I fixed it by going to "Settings" then "Notifications" (it has a black box with a red button on it) Once you are in there, look for facebook. Once you are in the "Facebook" Section, make sure the notification centre is on and badge app icon, sounds and view in lock screen.

Should work now
