A CSV files is a spreadsheet file (stands for comma separated values). Should be able to open it with most spreadsheet programs. (Numbers, Excel, iWorks?....)
Dan
a CSV file can have many seperators, most;y Commas, but Tab & others are used.
To look at it drag it to Text Edit & have a Look.
Might look into free NeoOffice...
I don't believe I have excel or iworks. Are they in my applications? I tried text edit and I believed it worked, But all it said was "Date,Reference Number,Service,Payment Type,Amount" instead of listing the numbers of my payment history, with reverb nation. Could be their fault on that specific item?
Do you have Appleworks? It should be on all Macs. Try its spread sheet app. Try the ascii text option.
Yes I dragged it to text edit, but it only said: Date,Reference Number,Service,Payment Type,Amount so I guess I opened it and reverbnation didn't supply the actuall numbers, for a transaction history I requested, unless I didn't open correctly? Thanks for the help... Do you reckon I opened it, since it said : Date,Reference Number,Service,Payment Type,Amount
and I need to ask ReverNation to fill in the blanks?
How do I find out if i have or locate appleworks on my computer?
Yes, that's commonly the Header or forst line of a CSV file for a Database, or Speadsheet file, so I think you did open it OK.
What size is the filein actual Bytes if you do a Get Info on it?
Appleworks should be in the Application Folder
size is 4KB
That's pretty small for a file with any real data in it. You may have a bad download?

Ok just so I understand, I'm opening file w. text edit, so I don't need appleworks. File 4KB small so info missing could be fault of download from reverbnation.? correct?
Sounds like all you got was the header row of the spreadsheet table.
If you have no spreadsheet program on your mac you can take BDAqua's advice and download NeoOffice.
4KB is likely the minimum space it uses on the Disk, not the real size in Bytes, right after that is should say nnnn Bytes, what is that number?
I don't think you need Appleworks or Neooffice to view it, just to use it in other ways.
50 bytes
