Apple TV loses video signal

I have my Apple TV 2 running through a Onkyo stereo receiver via HDMI. The receiver is attached to a 50" Panasonic plasma TV. I also have a PS3, 360 and DIRECTV receiver hooked in to the same receiver. The PS3, 360, & DIRECTV units work perfectly. However, while watching the Apple TV, I am constantly losing the signal. The TV will display HDMI 2 on a black screen. This is the same thing that will happen if I turn off a connected componet. With the Apple TV, this happens with a 1-10 minute interval. I have swapped the input port on the receiver, and I have swapped HDMI cables, and the behavior has continued. As I mentioned, I only have this problem with the Apple TV unit. It will occur wil watching Netflix, or will streaming video from my computer via iTunes. I can watch either on my iPhone or iPad with no issues. Is the Apple TV 2 unit bad, or is this a known problem that Apple has not corrected?

Connect the Apple TV direct to the TV and miss out the receiver, if the problem goes away it's your receiver.

If the problem persists try the Apple TV connected directly to another TV, if the problem goes away it's your TV.

If the problem persists then the problem is with the Apple TV or the HDMI cable.

Thanks for the welcome... It seems obvious that the problem lies with the Apple TV to me, specifically in its ability to communicate with the receiver. It works fine when not plugged into the receiver, the receiver works fine when the Apple TV isn't going, it's only when those two are supposed to work together that things fail. ANyone have any ideas if it's something to change with the settings? I've tried the different HDMI settings on the Apple TV to no avail; perhaps something on the receiver? I'm using an Onkyo 509 if that matters.....
