Beware of Gevey SIM unlock for iPhone 4

There is a new Gevey SIM unlock from China circulating for sale via the net. For the unlock to work though, you have to dial 112 when performing the unlock. So what's wrong with that? Well, 112 in the International emergency (like our 911) line. If you get caught doing that (and they can easily trace the call to your phone), you could get a hefty fine or even jail time for abusing the emergency line. Also, this has to be repeated every time you restart your iPhone.

wth is this serious?! well this is the only solution i had for me to use my iphone in our country. Any other options? This is the only solution that I get. You mean Gevey Sim Kit is a illegal one?

It's not illegal to posses one. It's illegal to abuse the International emergency call system to activate it though.

112 is not the international emergency call system. It is the GSM standard emergency number for calling the local emergency system. In the USA it is the same as calling 911. In Australia it is the same as calling 000, New Zealand 111.

Because you can roam internationally on a GSM based phone this number was defined in the standard so that you can call the local emergency services without having to know the local number.
