Iphone 4 is not ringing when calls come in.
So I miss a lot of them. I've restored settings, reset the phone, I've deleted any custom ringers, all to no success. Any help? It's really getting annoying.

Hey In Settings > Sounds Check that the ringer and alerts are slid fully and taht your not in silent mode 🙂
J
Haha. Thanks, I've done that much. ^.^
And of course, it's never that simple.
Does the iPhone make other sounds though the speaker like when you play music ?
J
Yeah, all other sounds are going off, just calls come in silent.
Try Updating the Phone to the latest software version in iTunes.
J
It's all current.
It actually just sorta fixed itself... Oh well, thanks for trying to help, it just decided to be bad for a while.
Cool, Glad your sorted.

Hello all...
I'm on iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 on Australian Vodafone Pre-paid network.
Have a similar issue where I would call my iPhone from a landline, ring tone suggest that phone is ringing, but the actual iPhone device itself is not ringing.
Thought it was the network, so I got myself a new sim - same problem.
Use other (working in other iPhone) sim on the problem iPhone - same problem.
Tried calling out from the problem iPhone - same problem.
The only fix for me was to reset the iPhone by going to: Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings.
Hope that helps others...
The question is - what was the root cause of the problem? Hmmmm...
Have you tried the button above the volume control on the left hand side of your phone? If you can see an orange line, slide it across to cover it. According to another forum, that should fix it.
I've just tried it, and the phone now rings!
Hi all,
My issue was resolved after installing IOS 5.1
Thank you kindly. (I feel a fool not to have known that............lol)

(I found solution on another discussion by 17beachside):-
This worked for my Iphone 4
Firstly make sure your mute isn't on (the top left slide should NOT show red) Then go to:-
Settings
General
Accessibility (go down under PHYSICAL & MOTOR)
Assistive touch - switch On.
Click on this assistive touch which should now appear on your screen (it's a faded square with a white circle icon button)
Now, select DEVICE and make sure the bell has a line through it (it should say Mute with a line through the bell).
PS. My iphone on the side is showing mute not on (no red), using the assistive touch ( the white button that appears on your home screen, go to DEVICE and switch the mute key to the opposite... that is on my phone showing the MUTE as on (bell with cross through it, opposite to phone), my phone now rings.
Hope this works for you like it worked for me!!
Thank you. My first i-Phone after having an android for years. The mute button is now off so I can receive incoming calls.
