can i use my iphone without a sim card as a ipod

I would like to do the same, just games for my kids..

The SIM card is not required to use an iPhone as an iPod or to be used for anything else besides cell phone related services.

For a no longer activated iPhone, the no longer activated SIM card that was used with the iPhone when it was activated must be inserted in the iPhone in order to install an iOS update and for no other reason.

So if I use someone elses sim card so I can activate the camera and itunes on my iphone 3, will that mess up that sim card and the other person's phone when they put that card back into it?

i would also like to do this but i dont have a sim card at all. i restored the phone and now without a sim card it wont even let me get into it. it says i need a valid sim card with no pin lock
