Let me know if I can make anything clearer, I'm happy to help. And thanks for having a look at the credit card thing.
Incidentally, I'm using iweb, and I'm pasting the paypal code into an html snippet. I should have made that clearer when I mentioned iframes earlier.
Lastly, it's only my vague assumption that network speed, and the cart page having to fully load, have anything to do with the Safari buginess. I'm sure there's more to it. Either way, using paypal's payment code for a website (instead of the email code) fixed the cart problem for me.
happens for me with approx > 6 items in cart. Cart will empty itself using Lion 10.7.4, Safari 5.1.7.
I've tried clearing my cache, resetting safari, and changing cookie settings to Block:Never.
I can still reproduce when testing my simple html storefront. In reply to the user who said switch to web code from html - that's not an issue for me - I always use the website code.
Like others, not a concern so much for me but major issue for my customers.
It is worse... I was just trying to send money to a private party, using Safari 5.1.7, running 10.6.8. PayPal reported multiple times that it was unable to process my transaction. I had to resort to Chrome to reset my password. Once that was done the transaction went with no trouble. Now I have seen three major websites that do not work properly with Safari: PayPal, Cricket (bill paying), and Yahoo Mail (contacts drop downs.) I am NOT a newbie, so don't give me some line about auto-fills and resetting Safari - that should NOT be needed...
