microphone not working on call

Me either issue just presented itself yesterday 5-23-11 Have restored to new, still have the issue, but it will recored a voice memo perfectly.... Running 4.3.3

Same problem, same version....

Likewise, I have the same issue. Mic works for voice memos, but not for calls Just happened yesterday (7th June 2011). I'm going to restore but from posts above I'm not sure this will help.

Any ideas, anyone?

I restored 3 or 4 times. Nothing. I blow into the mic as I read. It works for one call. Then the same problem. I called Apple assistance and I'll send it to be repaired.

I've the same issue after ios 4.3.3, the phone doesn't works for call, before was perfectly.

Which is the problem ? hardware is not possible..

Where is 4.3.4 to solve this issue ?

I have the issue too. Suddenly the mic stops working in a call. Voice memos are working great, but only calls have the issue.

What i did:

I updated from 4.3.1 to 4.3.3

I restored from Backup

I restored fresh from 4.3.3 without Backup

...but still the same error...

I want to give this to the apple hotline but my guarantee ends on June :-(

Ok this is what fixed my speaker issue, I took a q-tip trimmed it to fot in the stereo out port put a little windex on it and then spun in carefully into the headphone jack. It came out dirty and my phone was back to normal!!!!!! Worth a try becareful don't force anything.

I am facing similar issue. When in a call, the person at the other end does not hear my voice if i speak into the mic. Instead there is a constant buzzing sound heard by the other end caller. But i am able to hear the other person's voice clearly.

Funny thing is, if i keep my finger on the left side antenna slit, the buzzing sound stops. But still the person on other end does not hear my voice.

If instead i use my headset or speaker, the person hears my voice without any disturbance.

I am using 4.3.4. I tried restoring to factory settings and resetting network settings. None of them worked 😟

Anyone who was able to resolve this issue,pls. help me out here.

hi there i had the same problem with my daughters iphone 4 on 4.3 no one could hear her during a call she also had dropped her phone after the microphone problem,so i made an appointment at the genius bar in apple glasgow store.the tech tried it and the mic worked but for only a second so she took it apart and disconnected the mic and re connected it but still didn't work.so she gave me a brand new iphone 4 even with the old one having a cracked screen.the customer service is first class so i would urge u all to try it

I'm glad it worked for you. I'm taking my phone in tomorrow to see if I can get it fixed but I'm sad to say the customer service in my country is less than stellar. Here's to hoping.

The issue with mine is the same as ankur1812's I can't get the microphone to work except on speaker mode which is not very practica. I tried to see if it would work on Skype to no avail, same with Voice Memo. Nada. I'm rather surprised because I had been placing calls normally all day and even a couple hours before the issue presented itself, nothing seemed to be malfunctioning.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I have same problem, intermittent microphone. Did you ever resolve the problem?
