How do you install Thunderbird on a new Apple iPad 2? When attempting to download, I get a message that Safari cannot open the file.

Can anyone provide instructions regarding downloading Thunderbird on an Apple iPad 2? I attempted to download on the iPad through Google and when the download attempted to start it gave a message that Safari could not download this file.

Only Apps from the App Store can be downloaded on the iPad.

You can only install apps from the iTunes App Store. That's why Safari won't download it. Even if it did download it, you couldn't install it as iOS wouldn't recognize it as an iOS app (which Thunderbird isn't).
