This has been happening for about a week. I notice that sometimes it charges but most of the time it does not. I got this MBP 13" early 2011 in February or March of 2011 and use it regularly. Another possibly related question: I lost the AC adapter that came with my MBP, so I am using an older Macbook adapter from my friend's old MB. Is this somehow bad for my battery life?

Thanks for all your help!

It seemed that my magsafe connector suffered damage at the connection pins and the connection port itself was also damaged. Probably Dust or other material caused this. I noticed the connector’s plastic housing was a little bit mis-formed and the conection pins showed a bit of a burned color. They changed the port and I use a new connector. Problem solved!

This totally worked for me (for now at least. We are at 7% and climbing). Thanks, Nick418.

To those of you that did not see Nick's note, he suggests powering off your computer, and while it is down, press and hold Shift + Control + Option + Power button for a couple seconds. After you release, wait about five-ten seconds, and you should see your Magsafe turn orange. After that, turn the computer back on, and it should be charging.

Thanks again,

E

Hello, I am suffering with the same issue and have already tried the SMC reset, but what is weird is that if I go to a different power source it will charge but today, nothing.

MagSafe is plugged in:

hello frederic1943,

this would be my first Mac, and I have the same issue with the battery. I bought the MacBook Pro in December 2013, and the meter wouldn"t go up to 100% charge, but the light was green on the adaptor. I went to Apple store asking the battery replacement, but still no result. after reading the messages on the forum I would think there is a software issue that Apple does not solved it. I don't think I could get 2 defective batteries. Presently, the new battery shows only 97% charging, although is on the charger for days. Here are my param:

Could you write me couple of lines with your opinion about this?

Thank you.

P.S. I tried all smc and other tricks, like fully discharge and recharge...still no luck. Finally I called in Apple to ask for an RMA and full reimboursement.

Thank You
