Go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info, then select Power from the left hand column of the System Profiler. Copy and paste the Battery Information back here.

It is possible that the battery has died if it's not charging, but I strongly suggest to do what you're doing and try to trouble shoot, just in case it's not the battery.

The same thing happened recently with my sister's. When we moved her battery to my mac and used my charger, it was still refused to charge, indicating that it was the battery.

    Número de ciclos:    511

    Condición:    Comprobar batería

Your battery is probably dead. You'll have to buy a new one. You can get a battery fairly cheap on eBay. Check under Standard Int'l Shipping See all options to see if they ship internationally.

I am also having the same issue and this is a new battery, and the light on the maglight is orange. The percentage on the menu at the top of the screen stays at 0%:

Had the same problem....it was either "not charging" or the "X" in the battery icon. I tried everything humanly possible short of taking it to an apple store (the battery was new from a previous repair). Then, I caught a youtube video of a guy explaining how he did the SMC reset, but in a different order. Turn off macbook, disconnect magsafe, remove battery, press and hold power button 5 seconds, plug in magsafe plug BEFORE reinstalling the battery, install battery, and power up. After researching countless different ways to solve this issue, this one WORKED! My magsafe is orange, and my battery is charging (it's at 39% as I'm writing this). Don't know if this will work for everyone, but it's worth a shot!

My MacBook doesn't charge at all. We're posting similar issues on several threads, I'm afraid, but it's obvious that Lion has some troubles when managing batteries and AC power for MacBook's and MacBook Pro's.

Still waiting for a solution since I installed Lion last weekend. No light on MagSafe, no charging battery, no AC power at all. Losing battery life and patience...

My battery is now charging normally.  To change the situation, I just closed the laptop screen and let it charge without using it.  Then it started working normally.  I have no reason why though?

    Thius worked for me.

Shut down your macbook properly and while it is off, press and hold shift, control, option and the power button for a second then wait for a sec for it to reset.... even with out turning it on you should notice a difference if you press the power indicator button. If the light is green and flashing then its charging. Magsafe should have also turned orange.

I am also having problems with my mac charging. The light does not come on at all and it HAS to stay plugged in for the computer to stay on. When I push the battery button on the back, only one light comes on. If the cord gets pulled out, the computer completely shuts off and you have to turn it back on and start up the computer all over again. It never charges and right now it says Not Charging. We're down to about 16%. We took it to the apple store a couple months ago and he thought it was the logic board. But before we spend that kind of money on one and after reading some things on here, I'm wondering if it could be the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
